Never underestimate how much difference a supportive partner can make. I know so many women who gave up because of drama with their husbands/boyfriends/mothers-in-law, etc. Keep your supporters close by and others away! Support is so important. I DID have the idea that it would be all lovely from the beginning, but probably due to birth complications it was extremely difficult.But the first time he latched on and nursed successfully I was in heaven. As for support, I found it in my husband, and at various groups that tend to draw mothers who practice attachment parenting. I don't know how I would have survived without those mothers! I wish I had gotten the RIGHT information about breastfeeding. I pretty much DID sit on my butt the whole time, texting my husband from my iPhone when I needed stuff. What things did you have to take care of... so I can make sure to avoid those things with my next baby! :) I do assume that breastfeeding a second baby might not include so much time sitting around! Funny- I feel just like you did- I was so amazed breastfeeding was awesome because I’d heard the WORST stuff.
